Another fantastic S4L event! Thankyou to everyone involved!

Thankyou to everyone who attended the Saddlefit 4 Life ‘Horse Owners’ lecture on 8th Jan 2012!  We were very pleased to see so many people, and it’s wonderful to find so many people talking about it and to hear you all found it so informative!  I would like to thank Jochen Schleese from Saddlefit 4 Life for giving another inspiring lecture, and also to our host Zoe Sherlock Equine Sports Therapy for the organisation, promotion and enthusiasm!

I would also like to publically thank the professionals who attended the Saddlefit 4 Life Professionals Seminar on the 9th.  Jochen and I were both extremely happy to find many professionals wanting to be invloved, and felt the final 10 were a great group of people and provided an ideal balance of professions.  We were again very pleased to hear you all found it both enjoyable and informative, and that all of you would like to know more about further training and networking!  We sincerely look forward to working with you all in the future!

Some comments from the two events:

“Feeling informed and inspired (and ok a little exhausted after 10 hours and 420 miles of driving in one day)! Beware of leaving your horses alone with me, you may find me drawing chalk lines all over their backs ;)

The thing that really strikes me is I have watched countless saddlers fit both mine and my friends’ horses. Not one of them has done even half of the fit checks we were taught yesterday. So sad that they are not taught these and that so many horses end up in pain as a result, often getting smacked for ‘being naughty’ when they try to tell someone”

Sarah, Kent.

“Has had a Fantastic Day training on the Saddlefit 4 Life Professionals Seminar! Many thanks to Jochen Schleese of Schleese Saddlery and Laura Whitteron of Ergonomic Saddle Fitting for a very informative and engaging programme!

Today I witnessed an evaluation that…

- took into account the difference in the female and male pelvis

-identified if the saddle allowed the rider to sit in the optimum position or was causing rider crookedness, back/ joint pain or seat discomfort

- determined whether the saddle’s tree angle and width allowed the shoulder to move freely without pinching or restriction

-identified whether the saddle/ girth touched reflex points on the horse that cause’s hollowing, resistance, lack of engagement or bucking

- assessed saddle clearance and gullet channel width to protect the horses spine and important spinal ligaments/ tendons

- clarification of a horses saddle support area, the area he can carry your weight with ease ( actually smaller than you think!) and the correct length of saddle for the horse

… Just a few of many assessments Laura performs”

” Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much I learnt from the presentation on Sunday – and how much I enjoyed it, too, which isn’t always the case with talks like these. Jochen’s sense of humour certainly helped things along in that respect, without ever distracting from the message he wanted to get across. So, if you organise anything like this again, please let me know – I’m sure I only took on board part of what Jochen was explaining, simply because there was so much to think about while he was talking”

Jack, Derbyshire.
